Why convert your images
- Smaller files for the web. Modern formats like WEBP often produce smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality.
- Transparency support. Convert to PNG when you need to keep transparent backgrounds.
- Compatibility. Convert to JPG for photos or to PNG for graphics that need crisp edges.
- Easy sharing. Some platforms only accept specific image formats. Convert to match the requirement.
Frequently asked questions
Is this image converter free?
Yes. The tool is free to use and does not require an account or login.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Images are read and converted locally using the HTML canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server.
Which output formats are supported?
WEBP, JPG, and PNG are available. Browser support for WEBP is broad on modern browsers, but if your browser cannot encode WEBP the tool will fall back to the default format.
Does PNG support transparency?
Yes. PNG supports transparent backgrounds. When you select JPG, transparency is filled with white because JPG does not support transparency.
What is the maximum file size?
The tool accepts images up to 10 MB. Larger files may fail to process on low-memory devices.
Will converting change the image dimensions?
No. The converted image keeps the same pixel dimensions as the original. Only the encoding format and quality change.
